Julia has worked as a general adult consultant psychiatrist in Glasgow for eighteen years. She qualified as a doctor in New Zealand in 1992 before coming to the UK to further her training in general medicine, and then completed specialist training in psychiatry in the West of Scotland.

Having worked in both inpatient and outpatient NHS mental health secondary care services, she has considerable experience in the diagnosis and treatment of mental health problems,

She has a particular interest in autistic spectrum disorders and is DISCO and AAA trained (diagnostic assessment tools). She is an Approved Medical Practitioner under the Mental Health (Scotland) Act 2003 and is able to provide capacity and other reports on request.
